(KPL) Her Imperial Highness Princess Aiko of Japan arrived in Vientiane on the evening of November 17, marking the beginning of her first official overseas visit. The Princess was received at Wattay International Airport by Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Fongsamout Anlavan and other senior Lao officials.
The visit follows an official invitation from Ms. Pany Yathotou, Vice President of the Lao PDR, and will take place from November 17 to 21.
Princess Aiko’s visit comes as Laos and Japan celebrate two major milestones: the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 60th anniversary of Japan’s volunteer cooperation programme in Laos, initiated in 1965. The visit is expected to strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
During her stay, Princess Aiko will meet with top Lao leaders and visit significant cultural and historical sites in Vientiane and Luang Prabang, underscoring Japan’s ongoing cultural and people-to-people ties with Laos.
