Acting Head of LPRPCC Receives Japanese Ambassador to Strengthen Lao-Japan Strategic Partnership

KPL On July 10, Mr. Bounleua Phandanouvong, Acting Head of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee (LPRPCC) Commission for External Relations, received a courtesy visit from Mr. Koizumi Tsutomu, Ambassador of Japan to the Lao PDR.

(KPL) On July 10, Mr. Bounleua Phandanouvong, Acting Head of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee (LPRPCC) Commission for External Relations, received a courtesy visit from Mr. Koizumi Tsutomu, Ambassador of Japan to the Lao PDR.

Ambassador Koizumi congratulated Mr. Bounleua on his new role and reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to deepening bilateral ties. This year marks the 70th anniversary of Lao-Japan diplomatic relations, during which both countries upgraded their partnership to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership—a milestone reflecting robust cooperation at all levels.

Mr. Bounleua expressed appreciation for Japan’s consistent support in socio-economic development, highlighting cooperation in education, health, infrastructure, agriculture, and UXO clearance. He emphasized Laos’s continued implementation of the 11th Party Congress Resolutions and preparations for the 12th Congress in 2026.

Both sides discussed future cooperation, including enhancing high-level exchanges, investment, tourism, and people-to-people relations. Mr. Bounleua also underlined the importance of party-to-party ties between the LPRP and Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party in fostering stronger bilateral relations.

The meeting concluded with mutual commitments to promote peace, friendship, and regional development through enhanced Lao-Japan cooperation.
