Signing of MoU to Promote Buddhist Education Held

KPL A signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the promotion of Buddhist education was held on May 21, 2025, at the Lao National Assembly. The MoU was signed between the Social Welfare Fund of the Lao National Assembly and Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, Royal University of Thailand.

(KPL) A signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the promotion of Buddhist education was held on May 21, 2025, at the Lao National Assembly. The MoU was signed between the Social Welfare Fund of the Lao National Assembly and Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, Royal University of Thailand.

The agreement was co-signed by Mr. Viphavanh Phomvihane, President of the Lao National Assembly Social Welfare Fund, and Phra Thepwat Sarasanbandit, Vice President of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University. The ceremony was attended by Venerable Bounsuan Phanthavong, Vice President of the Lao Buddhist Federation, Mr. Khambay Damlat, Vice President of the National Assembly, and other relevant officials who served as witnesses.

Mr. Phetla Thanthavongsa, Director of the Department of Bilateral Parliamentary Relations under the Committee on Foreign Affairs, stated that the MoU aims to enhance monastic education by supporting human resource development, fundraising, provision of educational materials, and infrastructure development. The collaboration is expected to strengthen both monks and lay practitioners in their educational roles, increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of Buddhist education in both countries.

Venerable Thepwat Sarasanbandit underscored the significance of the agreement, highlighting its long-term benefits for the advancement of Buddhist education in Laos and Thailand through shared knowledge and mutual cooperation.
