(KPL) Sekong Province has opened its “Sekong, a City of Charm” exhibition hall in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China, to promote its tourism attractions, local products, cultural heritage and investment potential at the 23rd China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) 2026.

The exhibition hall was officially opened on September 16, one day before the opening of the China-ASEAN Expo and China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit. The opening ceremony brought together senior Lao and Chinese officials, business representatives and other invited guests.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Saleumxay Kommasith, Deputy Prime Minister and Standing Deputy Prime Minister of the Lao Government; Mr. Malaithong Kommasith, Minister of Industry and Commerce; Ms. Sisanga Keoduangdy, Vice Chairwoman of the Sekong Provincial Administration; Mr. Niu Kunwang, Member of the Standing Committee and Chairman of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission of the Party Committee of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region; and Mr. Wang Qisai, Secretary-General of CAEXPO.

The “Sekong, a City of Charm” exhibition introduces visitors to the province’s natural attractions, diverse ethnic cultures, traditional handicrafts, local products and distinctive way of life.

Located in southern Laos, Sekong is home to diverse ethnic communities and rich cultural traditions, as well as natural landscapes with potential for tourism development. The province is using its participation in CAEXPO to increase international awareness of these assets and connect local businesses and producers with wider markets.

The exhibition provides Sekong enterprises and producers with an opportunity to showcase their products, explore new markets and establish contacts with potential business partners from China and other ASEAN countries.

Displays inside the exhibition hall feature local products, tourist destinations, cultural traditions, handicrafts and traditional products, giving visitors a closer look at the province’s cultural identity and economic potential.

According to the organizers, Sekong’s participation in CAEXPO is intended to strengthen trade and economic cooperation with China and ASEAN countries while creating opportunities for business partnerships and investment in the province.

The Sekong exhibition forms part of the broader Lao PDR participation in CAEXPO 2026, which brings together government officials, enterprises, investors and business representatives from China and ASEAN countries to promote trade, investment and regional economic cooperation.

The 23rd China-ASEAN Expo, held in Nanning, features participation from Chinese and ASEAN enterprises and focuses on economic and trade cooperation, artificial intelligence and enterprise-driven partnerships under the theme “Opportunities of 3.0, Better Life.”

For Sekong, the event provides a platform to directly promote its tourism and cultural attractions, expand markets for local products and develop business connections that could support investment and economic opportunities for local communities.
