Members of the public have highlighted the important role of Lao media in serving as the voice of the Party, the State and the people, saying it provides accurate and timely information while helping strengthen public understanding and participation in national development.
As Laos prepares to mark the 76th anniversary of Lao Media and Publishing Day, citizens interviewed by the Lao News Agency praised the country's media for disseminating official information, reflecting public opinion and promoting greater awareness of national policies and social issues.
Soudaphone Khamphouvong, owner of a tailoring shop in Nongduang Neua Village, Sikhottabong District, Vientiane, said Lao media plays a vital role in delivering timely information through television, radio, newspapers and digital platforms.
She said the media helps people better understand the Party's and government's policies, laws, development programmes and achievements, while keeping the public informed about important events. It also contributes to raising public awareness and encouraging broader participation in national development.
Dalavan Nountalasy, a resident of Nongtha Neua Village, Chanthabouly District, Vientiane, said Lao media has become increasingly professional by providing accurate, credible and well-sourced information.
She noted that journalists have continued to improve their skills and make greater use of modern technologies in news production, enabling them to report more effectively on social developments and provide timely explanations of issues affecting the public.
The comments reflect the important role of Lao media not only as a source of information but also as a bridge connecting the Party, the State and the people. Through this role, the media helps strengthen public understanding, promote national unity and support the country's development.
As the media landscape continues to evolve in the digital era, respondents said Lao media should continue enhancing its professional capacity, analytical skills and use of modern technology to provide comprehensive, timely and reliable reporting that meets the changing needs of society.
