The first inaugural meeting of the Judges’ Council of the People’s Supreme Court was held on May 5 at the People’s Supreme Court of Laos.
(KPL) The first inaugural meeting of the Judges’ Council of the People’s Supreme Court was held on May 5 at the People’s Supreme Court of Laos.
The session was chaired by Phaivy Siboualipha, Member of the Party Central Committee, and President of the People’s Supreme Court. Vice presidents and members of the Judges’ Council were also in attendance.
The meeting addressed several key areas related to judicial administration and forward planning. Participants reviewed a report on judicial performance in 2025 and outlined strategic directions for 2026.
The session also included the presentation of a resolution from the National Assembly on the appointment of members to the Judges’ Council. In addition, officials reviewed decisions regarding the appointment of the Secretariat and Assistant Secretariat supporting the Council’s operations.
In his remarks, President Phaivy emphasized that the meeting provided an opportunity for a candid and comprehensive evaluation of past performance.
“We must review pending issues related to legislative research, case file reviews, including re-trials, and personnel management,” he said. “Our goal is to ensure that all tasks are completed according to plan with greater speed and efficiency.”
The council aims to define its operational roadmap for 2026 and the next five years, in line with the rights and responsibilities outlined under Article 32 of the Law on People’s Courts.
