(KPL) On April 21, 2026, Malaithong Kommasith, Minister of Industry and Commerce, received a courtesy call from Krongkanit Rakcharoen, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Thailand to the Lao PDR.
During the meeting, Minister Malaithong congratulated the Ambassador on her appointment and extended a warm welcome. He praised the long-standing cooperative relationship between Laos and Thailand, noting its continued growth in various sectors. Both sides held constructive discussions aimed at strengthening solidarity and expanding economic and trade cooperation.
Key areas of discussion included enhancing cross-border trade, with the Minister encouraging the Ambassador to continue serving as a bridge to facilitate smoother trade flows between the two countries. They also highlighted the importance of cooperation in strategic sectors such as energy, mining, and fuel to increase bilateral trade value and meet shared targets.
In addition, both sides discussed promoting technical cooperation, particularly through projects under the Thailand International Cooperation Agency, to support human resource development and the exchange of expertise.
The Thai Ambassador expressed her appreciation for the warm reception and reaffirmed her commitment to working closely with Lao counterparts to further strengthen cooperation and deliver tangible benefits to the people of both nations.
