A senior official of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party has met the Cuban ambassador to mark the 71st anniversary of the party’s founding.
Bounleua Phandanouvong, Head of the Committee for External Relations of the Party Central Committee, received Enna Viant Valdés at the committee’s headquarters in Vientiane on 26 March.
The Cuban ambassador and embassy officials visited to convey congratulations on the 71st anniversary of the founding of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, established on 22 March 1955.
During the meeting, Mr Bounleua expressed appreciation for the message of goodwill, describing it as a reflection of the long-standing friendship between Laos and Cuba, as well as the close ties between the two parties.
Both sides highlighted ongoing cooperation between the Lao party’s external relations committee and the international relations body of the Communist Party of Cuba, alongside collaboration with the Cuban Embassy in Laos.
Discussions also focused on expanding coordination between the two parties and their affiliated organisations, with the Lao side reaffirming its role in strengthening links between the two countries.
Ms Valdés welcomed the opportunity to mark the anniversary with Lao counterparts and expressed confidence that bilateral relations would continue to deepen, bringing practical benefits to both nations.
