Sekong Urges Health Sector to Hit 95% Target in Polio Vaccination for Under-Fives

19/02/2026 10:15
KPL Ms Sisanga Keodouangdy, Vice President of the Sekong Provincial Administration Committee, presided over a briefing on the National Vaccination Programme. The session focused on the urgent rollout of the oral polio vaccine (OPV) for children aged 0–59 months across the province.

Ms Sisanga Keodouangdy called upon the health sector and all relevant stakeholders to ensure the campaign is executed according to plan.

She urged mobile medical teams to ensure a vaccination coverage rate of at least 95%.

Local authorities at the district and village levels are urged to mobilise parents and guardians, ensuring they bring their children to designated health facilities or meet mobile teams for the vaccine.

Health as a Pillar of National Development

As 2026 marks the commencement of the implementation of the 12th Party Congress resolutions and the 11th Sekong Provincial Party Committee resolutions, Ms Keodouangdy highlighted that public health is fundamental to the nation’s goal of achieving upper-middle-income status.

"Providing vaccinations is not merely about disease prevention; it is about safeguarding the future of our nation's children and our country's development," she stated.

Operations will align with the Prime Minister’s guidance on nine major health priorities under the slogan: “Enhance management, provide high-quality and modern health services, and move towards self-reliance.”
