As Lao PDR prepares for nationwide elections on Feb 22, voters are calling on future representatives to maintain close ties with citizens and respond effectively to local needs.
Candidates for the 10th National Assembly of Laos and the 5th Provincial People’s Councils have intensified campaign activities across constituencies, including in Vientiane Capital.Many voters say they hope to elect representatives who are capable, transparent and dedicated to national and public interests. Citizens emphasized that elected members should regularly engage with communities in both urban and rural areas to better understand people’s living conditions and concerns.In Xaysomboun Province, Ms. Onkham Thannavong of Nam Mo Village said she is ready to vote and expects elected representatives to remain sincere and committed to serving the public. She stressed that representatives should listen to citizens’ views and bring community concerns to the Assembly for proper consideration and resolution.Local authorities reported that election preparations in Constituency No. 18 are progressing smoothly, with committees verifying voter lists and candidates continuing outreach activities. Officials said these efforts aim to ensure the election is conducted in an orderly and successful manner nationwide.
