Japan’s Government Provides Grant Aid for Two Projects in Huaphanh Province

(KPL)  The signing ceremony for grant aid contracts provided by the Government of Japan took place on October 28, 2025, in Huaphanh Province.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Phonsouk Inthavong, Vice Governor of Huaphanh Province, and Mr. Koizumi Tsutomu, Ambassador of Japan to the Lao PDR. Also present were district leaders from Viengxay and Add, as well as representatives from relevant sectors.

The grant aid provided by the Japanese Government includes two development projects aimed at improving infrastructure and local livelihoods in Huaphanh Province. The first project involves the construction of the Nam Sim Irrigation System in Viengxay District, with a total value of USD 142,271. The implementing agency for this project is the Office of Agriculture and Environment of Viengxay District.

The second project supports the construction of the Lower Secondary School in Keo Kou Village, Add District, with a construction value of USD 91,345. This project is being implemented by the Office of Education and Sports of Add District.

Both projects are funded through non-refundable grant aid from the Government of Japan, provided via the Embassy of Japan in Laos.

On this occasion, Mr. Phonsouk Inthavong expressed his sincere appreciation to the Ambassador of Japan and the Japanese Government for their continuous assistance and support to the Lao PDR. He highlighted that the longstanding cooperative relationship between Laos and Japan has steadily strengthened over the years, leading to meaningful development across multiple sectors.

He further affirmed that the provincial authorities would ensure the effective and transparent use of the grant aid to bring maximum benefits to the local communities.
