Over the past five years, guided by the 7th Congress resolutions, Vientiane Capital has achieved progress in maintaining political stability, public security, and social order, while also recording steady gains in economic growth, cultural development, and the livelihoods of its citizens.
The 8th Congress will review achievements and shortcomings from the previous term, assess the implementation of Party policies, and draw lessons to inform future development. Its core objective is to outline a strategic roadmap through 2030, covering governance, economic modernization, infrastructure, social welfare, and environmental sustainability.

Delegates will also elect the 8th Vientiane Capital Party Administrative Committee to guide the city’s next stage of development and choose representatives to attend the upcoming 12th National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party.
The event underscores the Party’s commitment to strengthening unity, promoting inclusive growth, and advancing the interests of all citizens as Vientiane continues to play a central role in national development and regional integration.
