More than 20 young leaders from political parties and media organizations in China’s neighboring countries across Central Asia, South Asia, and Southeast Asia have joined an exchange programme in China to explore the country’s political system, modernization achievements, socio-economic development, and efforts to improve living standards.
(KPL) More than 20 young leaders from political parties and media organizations in China’s neighboring countries across Central Asia, South Asia, and Southeast Asia have joined an exchange programme in China to explore the country’s political system, modernization achievements, socio-economic development, and efforts to improve living standards.
The programme, taking place from Sep 14–23, aims to strengthen media cooperation by facilitating the exchange of experiences in shaping public opinion and enhancing international collaboration.

Welcoming the delegates in Beijing on Sep 15, Sun Haiyan, Vice Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC), said that China attaches great importance to developing relations with neighboring countries. She highlighted China’s commitment to the principles of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit, and inclusiveness in advancing a community with a shared future for mankind.
Sun noted that China is ready to deepen exchanges and cooperation with political parties and media outlets from neighboring countries, jointly enhancing their ability to guide public opinion, communicate with the public, and address the growing challenge of disinformation.
Kho Teck Wan, Vice President of the Sarawak United People’s Party of Malaysia and head of the delegation, encouraged political party media officials from neighboring countries and their Chinese counterparts to focus on building digital innovation and media platforms that strengthen diplomatic ties, educate younger generations, preserve cultural heritage, and protect the environment.

At a meeting held under the theme “Converging Global Wisdom, Uniting Youth Momentum” on Sep 15, Sengthong Phasavath, Deputy Director General of the Lao News Agency, underscored the importance of closer cooperation among political party media in modernizing exchange platforms and enhancing professionalism. He emphasized that such efforts are essential to overcoming new-era challenges, serving the people, and safeguarding the socialist cause.
Li Shuangwu, President and Editor-in-Chief of the Contemporary World Press, said that as the information technology revolution reshapes the global communications landscape, it is vital to harness the strength of young people while promoting media convergence and innovative cooperation. He urged media organizations to work together in building an open, equal, and mutually beneficial platform for exchange.
Throughout the week-long programme, the youth delegates and media representatives visited Beijing, Zhejiang, and Shaanxi, where they observed how technology is transforming media and public communication. They also learned about China’s significant investments in technology and media to drive economic growth, support governance, and improve public services.
Organized by the IDCPC, the programme also featured visits to leading science and technology companies, government institutions, and historical and cultural landmarks, including Emperor Qinshihuang’s Mausoleum Site Museum in Xi’an, Shaanxi.
