(KPL/VNA)A delegation from the Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem) visited Laos from May 26-29 to accelerate a potassium salt mining and processing plant in the central province of Khammouane, a flagship project symbolising the deepening partnership between the two nations.

During a working session with Lao Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith and relevant ministries and agencies in Vientiane on May 27, Vinachem Chairman Phung Quang Hiep detailed the project’s progress and urged the Lao Government to facilitate coordination among its agencies to address obstacles.

He pledged to pool maximum resources, act with responsibility, and demonstrate political will to ensure the project’s success, describing it as a particularly important political task of the group in the new era.

Saleumxay Kommasith directed the Laos-Vietnam Cooperation Committee, along with relevant Lao ministries, to actively settle issues within their respective authorities.

The same day, Standing Vice Chairman of the Laos-Vietnam Cooperation Committee Phanchinda Lengsavad held a working session with the Vinachem delegation. Both sides agreed to propose forming inter-sectoral task forces, involving relevant ministries and agencies from both countries, to facilitate simultaneous coordination and meet project deadline. They also vowed to set up a robust communication mechanism with regular progress reports.

On May 28, the Vinachem delegation visited the project site in Khammouane province and held discussions with local officials. The provincial Deputy Governor Somsaath Ounsida committed all possible support to this strategic project
