(KPL) The Vientiane Capital People's Council is preparing to convene its 1st Extraordinary Session of the second legislature to consider and approve a proposal to pilot the establishment of a sub-district (commune) in Xaythany District.

The announcement was made during a press conference on May 19, 2025, where the Council confirmed that the session will be held on May 22, 2025. The key agenda is to review and potentially approve the proposal aimed at decentralizing local administration by creating a sub-district in Xaythany.

In light of the session, the Council called on all Party and State organizations, mass organizations, civil servants, soldiers, police officers, and citizens—especially those residing in Vientiane Capital—to stay informed by following updates through national television and print media.

To encourage public participation, the Council has also set up a dedicated unit to collect feedback and suggestions from the public. Citizens can submit their input via hotline number 1156 or through telephone numbers 021 260251 and 021 260242. The Council will begin accepting public comments from today.

This initiative reflects an effort to enhance local governance and public engagement in administrative reforms.
