President of the Lao PDR and Secretary General of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Thongloun Sisoulith, welcomed the courtesy call from Chen Gang, Party Secretary of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Chairman of the Regional People’s Congress Standing Committee, during his working trip to Laos from February 21-24, 2025.

(KPL) President of the Lao PDR and Secretary General of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Thongloun Sisoulith, welcomed the courtesy call from Chen Gang, Party Secretary of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Chairman of the Regional People’s Congress Standing Committee, during his working trip to Laos from February 21-24, 2025.
President Thongloun congratulated Chen Gang on his recent appointment to the posts and reaffirmed Laos’ unwavering support for the One-China policy and the peaceful reunification of China.
He expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the Lao Party, government, and people for China’s continued assistance, particularly from Guangxi, which has played a valuable role in Laos’ development.
Laos’ top leader highlighted the strong and comprehensive Laos-China strategic partnership, emphasizing its steady growth in multiple spheres. He acknowledged Guangxi’s contributions, particularly in investment, business operations, and infrastructure projects, which have significantly bolstered Laos’ socio-economic development.

He pointed to the Laos-China Railway as a key example of successful cooperation, aligning China’s Belt and Road Initiative with Laos’ vision of becoming a regional connectivity hub.
President Thongloun expressed hope that Chen Gang would further encourage collaboration in trade, tourism, energy, infrastructure, and other mutually beneficial sectors, bringing tangible benefits to the peoples of both nations.
In reply, Chen Gang expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and provided an overview of his visits to Luang Prabang and meetings with leaders of the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Ministry of Technology and Telecommunications.
He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and working closely with Lao counterparts to advance the Laos-China strategic partnership to bring concrete benefits to the peoples of the two countries.
