(KPL) The Khong District Striped Catfish Processing Park in Champasak Province, is a company investing in the construction of a catfish processing plant in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Laos.

The project focuses on breeding, producing, and distributing catfish in a complete value chain, leveraging Laos' favorable conditions and environment for aquaculture, aiming to export to foreign markets. This project will contribute to job creation for people in localities.

Mr. Xu Yun, President of Shenzhen Fisheries Science and Technology Company, revealed that the catfish processing park officially commenced production on December 9, 2024, for processing and exporting catfish products.

The company has received authorization from the General Administration of Customs of China, and by the end of December, catfish products will be exported to China.

The catfish farming area covers 107 hectares, and the first processing plant is expected to export 1,500 tons of processed catfish annually.

In the future, the company plans to build 10 more catfish processing plants, which will make it the largest catfish producer in Laos.

The project will create employment opportunities for approximately 200-300 people in local communities and nearby provinces, contributing to economic development and generating income for the people.

Mr. Xu Yun also noted that in the future, the company plans to expand catfish farming and processing projects to other provinces in Laos with suitable conditions.
