(KPL) The 2024 ASEAN Business and Investment Summit kicked off in Vientiane on October 8 under the theme "ASEAN: Enhancing Connectivity and Resilience."
The event gathered over 700 participants, including representatives from the ASEAN Business Advisory Council, ambassadors, and business leaders from across ASEAN and other regions.
Held annually alongside the ASEAN Summit, the Business and Investment Summit serves as a key platform for exchanging views on enhancing economic cooperation within ASEAN and other regions. It also aims to foster stronger collaboration and mutual support between governments and the private sector.
In his keynote address, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone emphasized the importance of deep cooperation between the public and private sectors in driving sustainable development and tackling current and future challenges.
He highlighted that public-private partnerships are essential for promoting trade and investment in areas such as infrastructure development, digital transformation, clean energy, and healthcare. These efforts, he noted, will help build an economy resilient to challenges such as economic recessions and climate change.
The Prime Minister also stressed that collaboration between governments and businesses within ASEAN will play a crucial role in achieving sustainable development, protecting the environment, opening new markets, and creating opportunities for innovative growth.
