On October 3, the Department of Public Works and Transport of Vientiane issued a notice regarding road closures for all types of vehicles during the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits, which will take place from October 5 to 13.
(KPL) On October 3, the Department of Public Works and Transport of Vientiane issued a notice regarding road closures for all types of vehicles during the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits, which will take place from October 5 to 13.
From October 5 to 13, the following key roads will be temporarily closed to vehicle traffic:
• Kaysone Phomvihane Road, from Patuxay to Dongdok Traffic Light Intersection. Vehicles coming from Road No. 13 South at Donnoun Roundabout intending to enter the city must turn right at the Dongdok Traffic Light Intersection and proceed via Phontong or Houayhong Road, or turn left onto 450 Road to reach the Ban Sokyai Traffic Light or Nakhwuay Traffic Light.
• Vehicles traveling from 450 Road to Dongdok may proceed directly.
• Chommany Road, from the National Television Roundabout to the National Convention Center Traffic Light Intersection, and from the Nongnieng Roundabout along Nongnieng Road. Vehicles using Phontong or Huayhong Roads to enter or exit the city are prohibited from passing through the National Television Roundabout to the National Convention Center Traffic Light Intersection. Vehicles heading to Nongnieng should use Dongdok Road to 450 Road. Vehicles coming from Nongnieng can enter the city via Houakhua-Thatluang Road.
• Suphanouvong Road, from Sikhai Junction to the Sihom Traffic Light (Km 1).
• Sethathirath Road, from the Sihom Traffic Light (Km 1) to the Thatkhao Traffic Light.
• Samsenthai Road, from the Thatkhao Traffic Light to the Chao Fa Ngum Park Junction (Km 2).
• Chao Fa Ngum Road, from the Thatkhao Traffic Light to Pakpasak Junction.
• Lane Xang Avenue, from Hor Kham Junction to Patuxay.
Additionally, parking is strictly prohibited along the roadsides and pedestrian walkways on the aforementioned roads.
All drivers are required to follow the instructions of traffic police stationed at various points along these roads.
