(KPL) Governor of Khammouane Province, Mr. Vansay Phongsavanh, along with his delegation, inspected and monitored the water level of the Xe Bang Fai River in Mahaxay District, from the old town site to Phanang Village and Khamfueang Village, on July 31, 2024.
Currently, the water level of the Xe Bang Fai River at the monitoring station in Mahaxay District is near the warning level, with signs of receding. The main impacts are on agricultural areas, with several villages experiencing flooding. The district authorities have prepared to respond and assigned the village disaster management committees to regularly monitor the water levels. Additionally, in high-risk areas, villagers have been advised to prepare evacuation shelters, boats, food supplies, and to relocate livestock to higher and safer grounds.
During this visit, Mr. Vansay Phongsavanh emphasized that the district administration and village committees should work together, paying close attention to the fluctuating water levels of the Xe Bang Fai River. They should also follow weather forecasts and regularly inform the public through various media channels.
The delegation also met with representatives of SCG Company to discuss joint funding for the upgrading of the road from SCG’s cement plant in Phouva Village to Mahaxay Village, a distance of approximately 2.5 kilometers. This collaboration aims to ensure mutual agreement on various issues, particularly in terms of budget, technical standards, and proper documentation procedures.
