(KPL/Xinhua) Cambodia has launched a tourism marketing and promotion board, aiming at promoting the tourism sector to the international markets, said a Ministry of Tourism's statement on Sunday.

Led by Tourism Minister Sok Soken, the Cambodia Tourism Marketing and Promotion Board (CTB) consists of representatives from eight public institutions and seven private sectors who hold significant roles in the tourism field.

"This diversified composition of 15 institutions reflects the comprehensive thinking and full participation in strengthening partnerships and cooperation between the public and private sectors to jointly promote the attractiveness and competitiveness of Cambodia," the statement said.

The CTB will also find a holistic solution to the challenges in the tourism sector and try to achieve specific developmental objectives, the statement added.

The CTB will act as a responsive platform to enable the private sector to fully collaborate with the royal government in accordance with the principle of "think together, act together and take responsibility together," both in funding, technical and conceptual contributions, to promote the development of Cambodia's tourism sector, it said.

The launch of the CTB will significantly contribute to the government's vision of turning Cambodia into a leading and vibrant tourism destination, the statement said.

Tourism is one of the four pillars supporting Cambodia's economy, in addition to garment, footwear, and travel goods export, agriculture, and construction and real estate.

The Southeast Asian country received a total of 2.11 million international tourists in the first four months of 2024, up more than 22 percent from 1.72 million over the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Tourism.

The three largest sources of the international tourist arrivals to Cambodia during the January-April period this year were Thailand, Vietnam, and China.
