(KPL) Thai corporation SCG has granted SCG Sharing the Dream” scholarships to 220 students of upper secondary schools in Vientiane and Khammuan, 110 each, and 10 university students.
The SCG Sharing the Dream scholarship awarding ceremony, held in Vientiane on Dec 14, was attended by representatives of SCG, Ministry of Education and Sports and Action with Lao Children (ALC). This year marks the 11th anniversary of the SCG Sharing the Dream in the Lao PDR.

Addressing the award ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education and Sports Sili-oudong Soundara called on the scholars to study hard, and appreciated SCG for having provided scholarships to local students over the past years. He also expressed his hope that the Thai conglomerate will continue its scholarship programme and expand it to other provinces across the Lao PDR.
“SCG Sharing the Dream” is SCG’s initiative to develop the talents of young people in ASEAN member states through providing financial assistance to support their education and encouraging them to behave properly, be grateful to their parents, be accountable to society and environment; and reduce educational inequity,” said Country Director Laos, SCG Cement-Build Material Tilavut Poonkarnjanaroj.
“Years ago I had a number of difficulties but I always focused on my education. After I got scholarship from SCG I spent the money on my education and my routines until I graduated secondary school. At the present, I am studying for Master’s Degree in ecological engineering at Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia. I have today because of SCG Sharing the Dream programme and support from relevant authorities,” said SCG scholar Phoulith Senkang.
Annually, “SCG Sharing the Dream” programme provides at least 5,000 scholarships to students in ASEAN including the Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam and the Lao PDR where SCG business is represented.
