President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by his spouse and a high-level delegation, visited Luang Prabang Province on July 5 as part of his state visit to the Lao PDR from July 3–5, 2026.

Upon arrival in the UNESCO World Heritage city, President Min Aung Hlaing and his delegation were welcomed by Bounleua Sinxayvoravong, Deputy Secretary of the Luang Prabang Provincial Party Committee and Governor of Luang Prabang Province.
During the visit, the Myanmar President paid a courtesy call on Bounleuam Manivong, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Luang Prabang Provincial Party Committee, and President of the Luang Prabang Provincial People's Council, at the Souphattra Hotel.

On behalf of the provincial authorities and the multi-ethnic people of Luang Prabang, Bounleuam extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation, describing the visit as another important milestone in strengthening the longstanding friendship, solidarity, and close cooperation between Laos and Myanmar. He also briefed the delegation on the province's socio-economic development and highlighted Luang Prabang's role as one of the Lao PDR's leading cultural and tourism destinations.
President Min Aung Hlaing expressed his appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by the provincial leadership and people of Luang Prabang. Both sides exchanged views on further enhancing friendship and promoting cooperation between Luang Prabang Province and Myanmar.
To mark the occasion, the provincial authorities hosted a traditional Baci ceremony in honour of the Myanmar President and his delegation, offering blessings for good health, prosperity, and success.
During their stay in Luang Prabang, President Min Aung Hlaing and his delegation also visited the Luang Prabang National Museum and Wat Xieng Thong, two of the province's most renowned cultural heritage sites that showcase the rich history, architecture, and cultural identity of the Lao PDR.
