KPL Phoenix Media Group is marking its 30th anniversary by accelerating its transformation from a traditional satellite broadcaster into a digital-first international media organization, reflecting changing global news consumption habits.

Speaking to international journalists at the Phoenix International Media Center in Beijing on July 2, 2026, company executives said the group is adapting to the rapid growth of mobile and social media by producing content designed primarily for digital platforms.
Founded in Hong Kong in 1996, Phoenix Media Group has evolved into a diversified media company operating six television channels, the ifeng.com news portal, mobile applications, outdoor digital media, magazines, and international social media platforms. The company said its network reaches audiences in 190 countries and regions, covering around 500 million television households and more than 3,100 high-end hotels worldwide.

Officials said Phoenix is restructuring its news production process to deliver content more quickly across multiple digital platforms. Stories are now produced using mobile-friendly formats, allowing breaking news to reach audiences within minutes.
The company also highlighted its network of 63 overseas correspondent stations, which supports coverage of major political, business, and international developments. While operating with fewer reporting teams than larger state-owned media organizations, Phoenix said it remains focused on producing professional, high-quality journalism in its core news areas.

Looking ahead, Phoenix Media Group plans to further strengthen its digital presence and international outreach. The company said it has attracted more than 17 million overseas social media followers and nearly 170 million followers on Chinese mainland platforms, reinforcing its goal of serving as a bridge for news, information, and cultural exchange in the digital era.
