(KPL) Luang Prabang Province has entered the final stage of preparations for the election of members of the 10th National Assembly and the 5th Provincial People’s Assembly, scheduled for February 22, 2026, according to provincial sources.
In Electoral District 6, a total of 14 candidates are contesting seats in the National Assembly, with 10 to be elected, while 84 candidates are running for the Provincial People’s Assembly, of which 60 will be elected.
The province has established 776 polling stations and registered more than 230,000 eligible voters.
Provincial authorities said preparations are now almost 100 percent complete. Samnan Sonthanee, Vice President of the Provincial People’s Assembly and a member of the Luang Prabang Provincial Election Committee, said election work has been organized into four main stages, including the appointment of provincial and district election committees and secretariat teams, preparation of campaign and vote-canvassing plans, and assignment of personnel to each polling station.
A large number of officials will be deployed to support voters and ensure smooth voting. Authorities have set strict targets, including full voter participation, complete compliance with election regulations, guaranteed peace and security, and transparent, on-schedule completion of the election process.
Campaign and canvassing activities for National Assembly candidates are scheduled to begin in early February, with candidates divided into two teams covering northern and southern districts. Candidates for the Provincial People’s Assembly will continue their campaign activities afterward, in line with the approved plan.
Authorities said the process aims to ensure voters can freely and confidently select representatives who reflect the interests of Luang Prabang’s multi-ethnic population, in line with national election objectives.
