KPL The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology reports that a prevailing low-pressure system combined with an active southwesterly monsoon is bringing widespread rainfall across Laos. Light to moderate rain is forecast nationwide, while some areas are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall over the coming days.


(KPL) The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology reports that a prevailing low-pressure system combined with an active southwesterly monsoon is bringing widespread rainfall across Laos. Light to moderate rain is forecast nationwide, while some areas are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall over the coming days.

Authorities urge residents living near rivers—particularly in areas around the Nam Song River, Vang Vieng Station, and Nam San Station in the Old Town area—to remain vigilant due to a heightened risk of flooding, flash floods, and landslides. Travelers are also advised to monitor weather conditions and road safety before departing and ensure their vehicles are in proper working condition.

The public is encouraged to stay informed by following official updates from the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology.

Weather Forecast (July 34, 2025):

Northeast (Phongsaly, Huaphanh, Xiengkhouang): Light to moderate rain is expected in most areas, with potential for heavy to very heavy rain in some locations. Temperatures will range from 15°C to 27°C.

Northwest (Luang Namtha, Bokeo, Oudomxay, Luang Prabang, Xayaboury): Around 65% of the region will experience light to moderate rain, with heavy rainfall possible in some parts. Temperatures will range from 22°C to 32°C.

Vientiane Capital: Light to moderate rain is expected across most areas, with heavy rainfall in some localities. Temperatures will range from 24°C to 31°C.

Central Province (Vientiane Province, Bolikhamxay, Khammouane, Savannakhet): Widespread light to moderate rain is forecast, with some areas likely to receive heavy to very heavy rain. Temperatures will range from 23°C to 31°C.

Xaysomboun Province: Light to moderate rain is expected, with the possibility of heavy rainfall. Temperatures will range from 19°C to 27°C.

South (Salavan, Champasak, Sekong, Attapeu): Light to moderate rain is forecast across most areas, with heavy to very heavy rainfall in some locations. Temperatures will range from 24°C to 32°C.

Plateau Areas: Rain and scattered thunderstorms are expected, with locally heavy rainfall. Temperatures will range from 16°C to 26°C.
