The storm is currently moving northward over the South China Sea, with its center located at 19.1 degrees north latitude and 115.7 degrees east longitude. YAGI is expected to pass over Hainan Island in the next 1-2 days, bringing significant weather changes to the region.

(KPL) At 7:00 AM on September 5, 2024, Tropical Storm YAGI, the 11th storm of the year, intensified into Super Typhoon YAGI. The storm is currently moving northward over the South China Sea, with its center located at 19.1 degrees north latitude and 115.7 degrees east longitude. YAGI is expected to pass over Hainan Island in the next 1-2 days, bringing significant weather changes to the region.

After crossing Hainan, the typhoon is forecasted to weaken into a depression as it moves through northern Vietnam and Laos, respectively. The storm will cause widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds in various regions of Laos from September 6-9, 2024. Phongsaly, Huaphan, Xieng Khuang, Oudomxay, Bokeo, Luang Namtha, Luang Prabang, Xayaboury, Vientiane, Xaysomboun, Vientiane Province, Borikhamxay, Khammuan, and Savannakhet are expected to experience moderate to heavy rain.

The Ministry of Meteorology and Hydrology has issued a warning to the public, local authorities, and organizations across the country, including the capital city, to remain vigilant. The continuous heavy rainfall could lead to flash floods, landslides in some areas.

People are urged to stay updated on weather reports and advisories from the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, as the storm's impacts may last for several days. Precautionary measures should be taken to mitigate the potential risks associated with heavy rainfall and strong winds.
