(KPL) The government has chosen China Yunnan Sunny Road and Bridge Company, China Road and Bridge Cooperation, Phousy Construction and Development Public Company and Douangchaleun Development Group for conducting feasibility studies into the Vientiane-Pakse Highway Construction Project.
According to the agreement by the Minister of Planning and Investment, China Yunnan Sunny Road and Bridge Company will conduct a feasibly study for a road section between Bolikhamxay and Khammouane’s Thakhek which is 164 km long, and Douangchaleun Development Group will conduct a feasibility study into a road stretch between Thakhek and Savannakhet (Road No 9 intersection) which is 117 km long. Meanwhile Phousy Construction and Development Public Company will conduct a study into the development of a road stretch between Savannakhet and Road No 15 intersection in Saravan which is 128 km long and China Road and Bridge Corporation will conduct a feasibility study for a road section between Saravan and Champassak which is 82 km long.
“The plan on the development of Vientiane-Pakse highway is related to the Vientiane-Hanoi highway project (Vientiane-Paksan-Laksao (Laos-Vietnam border)) which is another highway project that will be built. The immediate step will be the negotiation of signing an MoU on conducting a feasibility study and a technical design,” said Mr Bounyavath Nilaxay, a coordinator for the Vientiane-Pakse Highway Project.
