Applications are now open for the Fifth Chinese Singing Competition for Lao Participants, offering music enthusiasts across the Lao PDR an opportunity to showcase their vocal talents while celebrating the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Laos and China and the 2026 Laos–China and China–Laos Friendship Year.
The competition is jointly organised by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Lao PDR, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China, and the China Cultural Centre in Laos. The event aims to strengthen cultural exchanges, deepen mutual understanding, and further promote the longstanding friendship between the two neighbouring countries through music.Organisers are inviting Lao citizens of all ages and backgrounds who enjoy singing Chinese songs to participate. Applications will be accepted until August 31, 2026, and interested applicants may register or obtain further information through the China Cultural Centre in Laos and the organisers' official communication channels.More than a singing competition, the event provides participants with an opportunity to develop their performance skills, build confidence, and connect with others who share an interest in the Chinese language and culture. It also serves as a platform to promote people-to-people exchanges and encourage greater appreciation of the cultural heritage of both Laos and China.The organisers said the competition reflects the growing role of cultural cooperation in strengthening bilateral relations as the two countries commemorate 65 years of diplomatic ties. Through music, the event seeks to foster friendship, learning, and mutual understanding beyond language and cultural boundaries.Since its launch, the Chinese Singing Competition has been held four times, attracting widespread participation, particularly among students and young people eager to demonstrate their musical talents while exploring Chinese culture.With registration now underway, organisers hope this year's competition will attract an even larger number of aspiring singers and further contribute to strengthening the enduring friendship between Laos and China through cultural exchange.KPL
