KPL Media in Laos plays a vital role in today's society, serving not only as a source of news and information but also as a bridge connecting the government with the public and communities with one another. It helps raise awareness, shape public understanding and support national development.

Ms Corinne Javary, Communication and Video Production Manager of the Basic Education Quality and Access in Laos (BEQUAL) programme, gave an interview to Lao News Agency on the occasion of the upcoming First National Media Conference.
She said the importance of the media has become even greater amid the current economic and educational challenges. Raising public awareness of the value of basic education is essential, as education is the foundation for building the nation's future. A greater understanding of its importance encourages families to support their children's learning and contribute to the country's long-term development.
Through her work with the Basic Education Quality and Access in Laos (BEQUAL) programme, led by the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Lao PDR with support from Australia, Ms Javary has seen how the media serves as an effective platform for communicating key education messages to communities, parents, teachers and decision-makers. Partnerships with media organisations play an important role in sharing news and progressive ideas that help improve learning opportunities for all children, particularly the most vulnerable. They also promote awareness of basic education, inclusive education, gender equality, child protection and other key development issues.
At the same time, media organisations in Laos face growing challenges in adapting to the digital age, particularly with the rapid expansion of social media. While information now spreads more quickly than ever, not all content is accurate or responsible. The increasing spread of fake news, misinformation and AI-generated misleading images and videos has highlighted the need for media professionals to verify information carefully, uphold ethical standards and strengthen public trust. In this evolving media landscape, accuracy and responsibility remain just as important as speed.
Ms Corinne said that, with strong collaboration, effective communication and a commitment to truth and public service, the media in Laos can continue to make a significant contribution to the country's development.
