Lao Government Decorates Vietnam’s General Department II

KPL An official ceremony was held on March 9, 2026, in Hanoi, Vietnam to confer decorations from the Government and the Ministry of National Defense of Laos to outstanding individuals and collectives of the General Department II of the Vietnam Ministry of National Defense in recognition of their contributions to cooperation and support for the Lao People's Army.

(KPL) An official ceremony was held on March 9, 2026, in Hanoi, Vietnam to confer decorations from the Government and the Ministry of National Defense of Laos to outstanding individuals and collectives of the General Department II of the Vietnam Ministry of National Defense in recognition of their contributions to cooperation and support for the Lao People's Army.

The ceremony coincided with the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of General Department II and was attended by General Khamlieng Outhakaysone, Minister of National Defense of Laos, and General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense of Vietnam, along with representatives from defense agencies and diplomatic missions.

During the ceremony, Brigadier General Vongchanh Phanthamanh, Deputy Head of the General Political Department of the Lao People's Army, announced the presidential decrees and ministerial decisions granting the decorations.

The awards were presented in recognition of the support provided to the Party, Government, Army and people of Laos, and for contributions to strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.

The decorations included the Order of Freedom, 2nd and 3rd Class, the Order of Labor, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Class, and the Order of Courage, 2nd Class awarded to a number of individuals and collectives of General Department II.

In his remarks, General Khamlieng Outhakaysone highlighted the significant achievements of General Department II over the past 80 years and expressed appreciation for its continued support to the Lao Ministry of National Defense. He also reaffirmed the commitment of both sides to further strengthen defense cooperation and the longstanding friendship between the two countries.
