(KPL/Prensa Latina) The Havana International Festival of New Latin American Cinema is celebrating its 46th edition, and among the surprises sure to please audiences is a selection of seven films presented by Churubusco Azteca Studios.

These productions, which honor the 80th anniversary of the Mexican production company, are joined this year by the new Latin American Film Market (Mecla) Isla Abierta, declared the festival’s president, Tania Delgado, in an interview with Radio Rebelde.

It will take place from December 7 to 11 thanks to the joint efforts of the Cuban Film Industry (ICAIC) and the festival, she added.

According to the festival’s Facebook page, the initiative promises to transform Havana into a strategic bridge between Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Eurasian region.

“With an inclusive and dynamic vision, Isla Abierta boosts the circulation of content and talent, opens innovative East-West cooperation routes, and generates investment opportunities and strategic alliances.”

Among the featured activities are pitching sessions, panels, negotiation tables, a location portfolio, collaboration roundtables, virtual reality stations, immersive installations, and narrative video games.

Considered “one of the most important events in Latin American and Caribbean cinema,” the festival will be held from December 4 to 14, with an invitation to participate in the usual categories.
