(KPL) Laos and Vietnam have inaugurated the Lao–Vietnam Friendship Public Park in Vientiane, marking a new symbol of the long-standing ties between the two neighbouring countries.
The opening ceremony, held on 2 December in Dansang Village, Saysettha District, was attended by senior leaders from both sides, including Lao President and LPRP General Secretary Thongloun Sisoulith and Vietnam’s Communist Party General Secretary To Lam. High-ranking party and state officials were also present.

Phet Phomphiphak, Head of the Office of the LPRP Central Committee, said the park was developed under a cooperation project between the two governments. The construction agreement, signed in March 2025, set the project’s value at 340.47 billion Vietnamese dong. Laos contributed 9 billion kip, while Vietnam provided 330 billion dong in non-refundable aid. Construction is now 99% complete.
Officials said the park carries significant historical and political meaning, reflecting the enduring friendship and close cooperation between the two countries. Beyond its symbolic value, the site is expected to become a cultural and tourism landmark, offering recreational space, sports facilities, children’s play areas, and educational opportunities for younger generations to learn about Laos–Vietnam relations.
