(KPL) As Laos prepares to mark the 50th anniversary of National Day on 2 December, security authorities in the capital say they have deployed more than 900 personnel to maintain order throughout the celebrations.
Police Major General Bouaphanh Phongsavanh, Head of the Vientiane Security Command, told reporters that the force will work closely with units from the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of National Defence. Personnel will be stationed at key locations across the city to ensure festivities proceed smoothly.
Local security teams have also been instructed to cooperate with village authorities to strengthen community-based safety measures. This includes creating family security commitment records and carrying out checks on both Lao citizens and foreign residents to improve monitoring and maintain order at the village and district levels.
Officials say these measures are intended to create a safe and stable environment as the capital prepares to welcome large crowds for the annual celebration.
Major General Bouaphanh also appealed to the public— including business owners, government employees, police, soldiers, and civil servants— to support the authorities’ efforts by remaining vigilant, following safety advice, and strictly adhering to national laws and regulations.
He said collective cooperation would be essential to ensure that this year’s National Day celebration is peaceful and successful.
