(KPL) On October 15, 2025, at the Prime Minister’s Office, Vice Prime Minister Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune met with and congratulated members of the Lao National Bodybuilding Federation and national athletes for their remarkable achievements in recent international bodybuilding competitions.
The meeting was attended by Vice Minister of Education and Sports Kingmano Phommahaxay, Vice Minister of Industry and Commerce and President of the Lao National Bodybuilding Federation Manothong Vongsay, along with coaches, national team athletes, and relevant officials.
During the event, Vice President and Secretary General of the Lao National Bodybuilding Federation Khamphaphayvanh Vongsay presented a report summarizing the team’s recent accomplishments.
Key Achievements in 2024–2025:International Competitions: Total of 7 gold, 5 silver, and 16 bronze medals.
15th World Bodybuilding Championships (Maldives, November 2024): Lao athletes won two World Champion titles.
57th Asian Bodybuilding Championships (Thailand, August 18–25, 2025): 2 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals, with participation of six Lao athletes.
19th ASEAN Bodybuilding Championships (Thailand, August 18–25, 2025): 2 gold and 2 silver medals, with five Lao athletes competing.
Vice Prime Minister Kikeo extended his heartfelt congratulations and high appreciation to the athletes and officials, describing their success as historic and a source of great pride for the Party, State, and the Lao people. He emphasized that these victories have elevated the reputation and honor of Laos and its athletes on both regional and international stages.
He commended the athletes for their patriotism, dedication, perseverance, and discipline, as well as the strong support provided by the Party, the Ministry of Education and Sports, the Federation, coaches, and parents.
The Vice Prime Minister also provided guidance on future priorities. He instructed the Ministry of Education and Sports, the National Bodybuilding Federation, and related sectors to begin comprehensive preparations to host the 17th World Bodybuilding Championships in Vientiane Capital at the end of 2026.
He encouraged athletes to continue training rigorously to further improve their performance and readiness for the upcoming global event, maintaining good health and discipline at all times.
Recognizing the potential tourism benefits of the 2026 World Championships, he urged the Ministry of Education and Sports to coordinate closely with the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism to promote the event effectively and attract visitors to Laos.
Mr. Kikeo also emphasized the importance of granting appropriate recognition and awards to outstanding athletes, coaches, and members of the Federation for their contribution to bringing honor and prestige to the nation.
