NUOL Partners with Asia Employment Service to Launch Internship Program in Japan

KPL The National University of Laos (NUOL) has taken a major step toward enhancing students’ global competitiveness by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Asia Employment Service Co., Ltd. The signing ceremony, held on September 19, 2025, in Vientiane, established a framework for sending Lao students to gain professional experience in Japan.


The agreement was signed by Mr. Phouphet Kiewphilavong, Vice President of NUOL, and Mr. Ekoucho Jo, Chairman of Asia Employment Service Co., Ltd. The event was attended by deans from 13 faculties and university staff, reflecting the broad institutional significance of the partnership.

The collaboration aims to expand NUOL’s international cooperation with the private sector by providing high-quality internship opportunities for students. The program will place students from various faculties in Japan’s production, agriculture, and engineering sectors.

“This partnership is a cornerstone of our strategy to bridge academic learning with real-world international experience,” said Mr. Phouphet. “It will equip our students with the skills and global perspective needed to succeed in their future careers and contribute to national development.”

Asia Employment Service Co., Ltd. will manage the entire process, from securing placements with Japanese companies to overseeing logistics for the interns. Internship durations will range from six months to one year, depending on program requirements and agreements with host companies.

“This agreement represents a commitment to developing young talent and strengthening ties between Laos and Japan,” said Mr. Ekoucho Jo. “We are proud to create pathways for NUOL students to gain invaluable experience in Japan’s advanced industrial and technological environment.”

The initiative is expected to provide NUOL students with hands-on skills, exposure to international work culture, and enhanced employability after graduation. The first group of students is scheduled to begin internships in Japan in the coming year.
