(KPL/Yonhap) Finance Minister Koo Yun-cheol said Wednesday the government will soon announce measures aimed at stabilizing people's livelihoods ahead of this year's extended Chuseok holiday period.

"(The government) will promptly announce measures to stabilize livelihoods for the Chuseok holiday," Koo said during a ministerial meeting on economic affairs ahead of the national holiday, which falls in early October.

Emphasizing signs of economic recovery following the launch of the new Lee Jae Myung administration, Koo said the race toward full economic recovery is now under way.

"(The government) will push forward at full speed without taking a break," he said.

The minister said the government will roll out a second round of cash handouts starting on Sept. 22. In July, the government distributed the first round of cash handouts, dubbed "consumption coupons," worth 150,000 won (US$108) to all citizens, with additional support allocated for low-income and single-parent households.

Koo also emphasized the importance of government support in response to rising global tariffs, while highlighting the administration's focus on new growth engines, particularly in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI).
