300 Officers Deployed to Manage Traffic During New School Year Opening in Vientiane

KPL The Traffic Police Department under the Police Office of the Command Headquarters, Ministry of Public Security, is deploying more than 300 officers to manage vehicles and ease traffic congestion across Vientiane during the opening of the 2025-2026 school year.

(KPL) The Traffic Police Department under the Police Office of the Command Headquarters, Ministry of Public Security, is deploying more than 300 officers to manage vehicles and ease traffic congestion across Vientiane during the opening of the 2025-2026 school year.

Mr. Phath Dedeleuxa Saiyasan, Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Department, announced the plan at a meeting on August 27, 2025. He stated that the deployment aims to ensure safe and orderly travel for students, teachers, and road users. The strategy involves cooperation between the Traffic Police Department of Vientiane and the Traffic Police Division of the Police Department General under the Ministry of Public Security.

According to the plan, officers will be stationed at 119 key points, including 69 traffic posts, 45 schools, major intersections, and roundabouts. Over 300 officers will be assigned to these locations, with a focus on school zones and busy roadways. Promotional points will also be established at three locations: Vientiane University School, Sinsai School, and the Lao-Vietnam School.

In addition, traffic police will be deployed to manage traffic lights, intersections, and other critical routes. Officers will strictly carry out their duties to control traffic flow and prevent congestion.

On this occasion, Mr. Phath Sangkhom Phommarat, Head of the Traffic Police Department of Vientiane, emphasized that traffic police operations will focus on public education and guidance, traffic management, route inspections, law enforcement, and supervision of vehicles and drivers. He added that tow truck teams will be on standby to respond to incidents and ensure quick clearance of accidents. Public awareness campaigns have also been launched to encourage cooperation and strict compliance with traffic regulations.
