During the meeting scheduled for Tianjin from August 31 to September 1, participants will assess the organization’s accumulated experience, establish follow-up measures for its development, and seek to strengthen the consensus for cooperation among member states.
This will be the organization’s largest summit since its founding 24 years ago, official sources stated.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry informed that Xi will meet with leaders of SCO member states, observers, and dialogue partners to exchange views on multilateralism, regional security, and sustainable development.
Invited heads of State include the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin; Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko; and Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian; as well as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, among others.
Xi Jinping will chair the meeting of the Council of Heads of Member States and the SCO Plus session, where they will address issues such as promoting the so-called “Shanghai Spirit,” improving internal mechanisms, and multilateral cooperation.
The joint signing of the Tianjin Declaration, the approval of a strategy for the next decade, and the publication of documents on cooperation in security, economics, and culture are expected at the end of the meeting.
