(KPL) Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone has sent a message of sympathy to his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi, following the plane crash on June 12, 2025.
Dated June 13, 2025, the message read:
"I was deeply saddened to learn of the loss of life and property damage caused by the airplane crash in Ahmedabad city, Gujarat state, India, on June 12, 2025.
On behalf of the Government and people of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, and on my own behalf, I would like to express my profound sympathy to Your Excellency, and through you, to the Government and people of India. Our thoughts are particularly with the victims and their bereaved families.
I am confident that, with the dedicated efforts of the Government of India, the people of India will be able to overcome this tragedy and restore normalcy to their lives soon."
On the same day, Foreign Minister Thongsavanh Phomvihane sent a message to his Indian counterpart, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, expressing condolences.
The message stated:
"I was deeply saddened to learn of the tragic accident involving Air India Flight AI171, which crashed in Ahmedabad city, Gujarat state, India, on June 12, 2025, resulting in the deaths of passengers and crew members.
On behalf of the Government and people of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, and on my own behalf, I extend my deepest sympathy and condolences to Your Excellency, and through you, to the Government and people of India, particularly the families of the victims.
I am confident that the Government and people of India, especially the bereaved families, will find the strength to overcome this sorrow and recover from this difficult situation soon."
