(KPL) Tsinghua University, one of China’s most prestigious academic institutions located in Beijing, continues to play a leading role in international journalism education through its School of Journalism and Communication. The university is renowned for its focus on research, curriculum development, and fostering global academic collaboration.
During a visit by foreign media on May 8, Professor Zhou Qing’an, Dean of the School of Journalism and Communication, highlighted the school’s mission to prepare students for the fast-evolving world of economics and business journalism, with a particular emphasis on China’s role in the global economy. He noted that the school boasts a team of distinguished Chinese and international faculty who equip students with the skills necessary to navigate today’s complex media landscape.

The school offers a wide range of research-driven courses designed to address global socio-economic trends. One of its flagship programs, the Master’s in Global Business Journalism (GBJ), was launched in 2007 and is entirely taught in English. Courses are led by respected academics and journalists with extensive international experience. The program trains students in data mining, multimedia storytelling, and high-level business reporting.

Tsinghua’s journalism facilities and equipment are considered among the best in the world, providing students with access to cutting-edge tools for media production and analysis.
In partnership with the U.S.-based International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), the GBJ program offers specialized courses that keep it at the forefront of global journalism education. These include international accounting standards, financial derivatives, media ethics, investigative reporting, and media management.
The GBJ program has gained recognition for its focus on emerging Chinese companies, global capital markets, and international commerce, establishing itself as a hub for future business journalists equipped to report on the evolving global economy.
