(KPL) On March 22, 2025, the Lao Embassy in Beijing, China, organized a lecture to commemorate three historical events: the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (Mar 22, 1955 – 2025), the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Lao PDR (Dec 2, 1975-2025), and the 105th birth anniversary of President Kaysone Phomvihane (Dec 13, 1920-2025).

The lecture was delivered by Lao Ambassador to China, Mr. Somphone Sichaleun, and attended by embassy officials, Lao students, and Lao citizens residing in Beijing.

Ambassador Somphone emphasized the profound significance of these three historical milestones.

The event aimed to deepen the understanding and appreciation of Party members, officials, and diplomats regarding the Party's and the nation's important anniversaries.

He expressed pride in the achievements of the Lao revolution, which are the fruits of the courageous struggles of the nation’s ancestors and the multi-ethnic Lao people.

He particularly highlighted gratitude for the contributions of past leaders and the virtues of President Kaysone Phomvihane, the founder of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party.

President Kaysone was a capable leader, revered as the father of the nation's revolution.

He became a member of the Indochinese Communist Party on January 6, 1949. By January 20 of the same year, he had established the Rasavong military unit, the precursor to the current Lao People's Army.

Together with his comrades in the Indochinese Communist Party, he founded the Lao People's Party on March 22, 1955, later renamed as Lao People’s Revolutionary Party.

Under the wise and visionary leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the nation united as one, courageously resisting the aggression of both old and neo-colonialists.

This struggle led to the successful liberation of the country and the proud proclamation of the Lao People's Democratic Republic on December 2, 1975. This historic day marked a great victory in the Lao people's struggle, a moment when the multi-ethnic Lao people gained true freedom and became the rightful masters of their nation.

Since 1975, the Party has led the nation in the tasks of national protection, development, and renewal. These efforts have significantly improved the living standards of the people and elevated the role of the Party and the nation in regional and international arenas.

In his address, Ambassador Somphone called on officials, students, and citizens to uphold and promote the Party's glorious traditions and roles while strengthening cooperation with friendly nations, regional partners, and the international community.

He urged those studying and living in China to learn from the valuable lessons of the Party and the state and to further strengthen the Laos-China community with a shared future, in line with the "Four-Good" spirit.

Ambassador Somphone also highlighted that Laos-China cooperation has reached an unprecedented level. Notably, the collaborative construction of the Laos-China railway has transformed Laos from a landlocked country into one that is regionally and internationally connected.

Over 10,000 Lao students are currently studying in China, 40% of Laos's exports are sold to China, and Chinese investment ranks first among foreign investments in Laos, with over 900 projects worth more than 13 billion USD.
