KPL The Lao Red Cross (LRC) held a training session on the Community Early Warning System (CEWS) for its disaster management staff across the country from March 17 to 19, 2025.

(KPL) The Lao Red Cross (LRC) held a training session on the Community Early Warning System (CEWS) for its disaster management staff across the country from March 17 to 19, 2025.

The event was chaired by Mr. Khamlavan Chanthalavan, President of the Lao Red Cross, and feature trainers from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the Thai Red Cross, and other relevant organizations.

Trainees included representatives from the Lao Red Cross, provincial branches, and other stakeholders. The training was financially supported by the IFRC.

This training aims to enhance the capacity of Lao Red Cross staff nationwide, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively implement the Community Early Warning System (CEWS). The goal is to improve preparedness and response to various disasters, including floods, droughts, storms, and other potential hazards, whether they are imminent or currently occurring. The knowledge gained from this training will be further disseminated to district and community disaster management committee in the future.
