(KPL) On January 10, 2025, a Politburo member and President of the National Assembly Saysomphone Phomvihane met with a Politburo member and Prime Minister of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh.

The meeting was part of the Vietnamese Prime Minister's visit to Laos to attend the 47th meeting of the Laos-Vietnam Intergovernmental Committee on Bilateral Cooperation, held from January 9-10, 2025.

During the meeting, Mr. Saysomphone expressed great pleasure in meeting Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the high-ranking delegation from Vietnam.

He congratulated the Vietnamese national football team on winning their third AFF Cup title and praised the successful outcomes of the bilateral meeting between the two Prime Ministers, as well as the achievements of the 47th meeting of the Laos-Vietnam Intergovernmental Committee Cooperation on Bilateral Cooperation.

These accomplishments significantly contribute to strengthening and deepening the special friendship, solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, states, and peoples of Laos and Vietnam.

They also enhance collaboration between the legislative bodies of both countries.

The host extended his best wishes for the New Year 2025 and the upcoming Vietnamese Lunar New Year to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

He also conveyed greetings to the senior leaders of Vietnam, including Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam and State President Luong Cuong.

This meeting underscores the robust and enduring partnership between Laos and Vietnam, highlighting their commitment to closer ties and mutual prosperity.

During the meeting, both parties exchanged views on the cooperative relations between the two countries, particularly the collaboration between their respective legislative bodies.

They acknowledged and highly valued the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two nations.

This partnership continues to expand in both breadth and depth across various sectors, especially in the legislative domain.

Key cooperative activities include mutual high-level visits, joint meetings, seminars, and exchanges of lessons learned. Notable accomplishments include the co-production of a book commemorating 50 years of Lao-Vietnamese parliamentary relations, joint monitoring of economic, trade, and investment cooperation, with a focus on infrastructure development projects and connectivity. These efforts aim to contribute to the socio-economic development of both countries.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed gratitude for the warm reception and commended the remarkable achievements in cooperation between the legislative bodies of Vietnam and Laos over the years.

He emphasized the importance of this collaboration in strengthening bilateral ties and fostering sustainable partnership growth. Additionally, he praised Laos for successfully chairing the 45th AIPA (ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly) meeting in late 2024.

On the same day, the Vietnamese premier and his delegation also met with Vice President Bounthong Chitmany and former senior leaders of Laos, demonstrating respect and continuity in the relationship between the two nations.
