Vientiane, November 13, 2024 (KPL) President Thongloun Sisoulith, accompanied by a delegation from Vientiane, attended the annual That Luang Festival on Wednesday, visiting the historic That Luang photo gallery and local product exhibition booths.
The Deputy Governor of Vientiane, Mr. Phouvong Vongkhamsao, reported that this year's festival and trade fair includes 1,463 stalls at the Market Square and 142 additional stalls at the Lao-ITECC Center, predominantly showcasing Lao-made products. These offerings include agricultural goods, traditional crafts, and industrial products from factories across the country, representing large, medium, and small-scale enterprises.
Foreign guests and local visitors were invited to engage in the event, which also welcomed participants from Yunnan Province, China, and Nong Khai Province, Thailand. As part of the celebration, visitors can explore a Lao-style house, a selection of traditional foods, and cultural performances, including displays of dance and theater from the Central Art Corps, Army Art Corps, and local artists.
The That Luang Festival, a key cultural event for Laos, is a cornerstone of national unity, drawing people from all ethnic backgrounds. The festival promotes not only Lao culture and tradition but also encourages tourism centered on the country’s rich history and heritage.
Deputy Governor Phouvong Vongkhamsao called on all attendees, including domestic and foreign tourists, to embrace the vibrant traditions of Laos while upholding the event's peaceful and orderly spirit.
