KPL Laos and the Republic of Korea signed three important agreements in Vientiane yesterday, following a warm reception of President of RoK Yoon Suk Yeol by Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith.

(KPL) Laos and the Republic of Korea signed three important agreements in Vientiane yesterday, following a warm reception of President of RoK Yoon Suk Yeol by Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith.
The first agreement focuses on cooperation in addressing climate change. The second is a Framework Agreement concerning a concessional loan from South Korea’s Economic Development Cooperation Fund, covering the period from 2024 to 2027. The third is a Memorandum of Understanding on reducing greenhouse gas emissions from deforestation and forest degradation, in line with Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
The agreements were signed by the relevant ministries from both countries, with the presidents of Laos and South Korea in attendance to witness the ceremony. Both leaders expressed their appreciation for the progress made over nearly three decades of cooperation and highlighted next year’s 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations. They also agreed to elevate the level of cooperation in 2024.
