(KPL) Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone warmly welcomed Hon. Dato Erywan Pehin Yusof, Brunei's Second Minister of Foreign Affairs, and his delegation at the Prime Minister's Office on August 28, 2024.

The visit is part of Dato Erywan’s official trip to Laos to participate in the 4th Lao-Brunei Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC-4) meeting, scheduled for August 28-29, 2024, in Vientiane.

Prime Minister Sonexay expressed his pleasure in receiving Dato Erywan and emphasized the importance of this visit in strengthening the longstanding friendship and strategic partnership between Laos and Brunei.

He highlighted the significance of close cooperation, which is a hallmark of the strong ties between the two nations as "strategic partners."

During the meeting, Prime Minister Sonexay conveyed his warm regards to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam and extended his heartfelt congratulations on the Sultan's 78th birthday, celebrated in July 2024.

PM Sonexay also praised the continuous development and deepening of the friendly relations and cooperation between Laos and Brunei over the past three decades.

He noted that this relationship has been increasingly fruitful and that the outcomes of the JCBC-4 meeting further demonstrate the robust collaboration between the two countries.

He called on relevant sectors, particularly the foreign ministries of both nations, to continue their close cooperation in implementing the agreements and cooperation plans discussed during the JCBC-4, thereby enhancing their strategic partnership.

Prime Minister Sonexay concluded by expressing the sincere gratitude of the Lao government and people to Brunei for its unwavering support and cooperation with Laos, particularly during its 2024 ASEAN Chairmanship.

Meanwhile, Dato Erywan Pehin Yusof reaffirmed Brunei's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Laos and expressed appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by the Lao government.
