Law on Environment Protection proposed for revision

KPL (KPL) Minister of Natural Resources and Environment presented yesterday at the ongoing 7th Ordinary Session of the National Assembly amendments to the Law on Environment Protection.

(KPL) Minister of Natural Resources and Environment presented yesterday at the ongoing 7th Ordinary Session of the National Assembly amendments to the Law on Environment Protection.

The meeting was overseen by Vice President of the National Assembly Chalern Yiapaoher.

Minister Bounkham Vorachit justified that the amendments aimed to align the law with those regulations on Chemicals Management, Forestry, Mining, Wildlife, Aquatic Animals and Fisheries, Disaster Management, and the socio-economic development in the new era.

If revised, this law will become a fundamental tool for helping monitor, manage and inspect the implementation of environment activities, ensure green and sustainable development, pollution management, chemical and waste management.

The minister added that the amendments also aim to ensure economic zone management, environmental project management, and raising public awareness of natural resource and environment protection.
