Excavation of cultural treasures resumes

KPL (KPL) A committee in charge of excavating cultural treasures on the Pheungkham Island in Tonpheung district, Bokeo Province held a religious ritual on May 6 on the island in preparation for the resumption of its excavation of cultural treasures.

(KPL) A committee in charge of excavating cultural treasures on the Pheungkham Island in Tonpheung district, Bokeo Province held a religious ritual on May 6 on the island in preparation for the resumption of its excavation of cultural treasures.

The excavation of cultural treasures on the Pheungkham Island was conducted between Mar 16 and Apr 6 with over 910 Buddha images and pieces found. These include 204 Buddha images, 30 heads of Buddha images, over 240 bo leaf Buddha images, 194 Panglila Buddha images, and 68 silver-like objects.

The excavation area is so-called the site of Souvannakhomkham, an ancient city dating back to more than 1967 years ago.
