Clean agriculture farm improves living standard of locals

(KPL)On March 28, A group of journalists from print and electronic media visited a clean agriculture farm in Nam Mo and Nam Yon villages, Anouvong districts, Xaysomboun Province.

Chief of Nam Mo village, Ms Yethao Vangxeng said that the clean agriculture farm has undergone in eight villages in Anouvong district, under land allocation of Phu Bia Mining Company and supported cash crops seeds and animal breeds, and provided technical training courses on growing and raising animal to locals.

In Nam Mo village, over 2,000 people or 47 households, main occupation rely on farming and animal husbandry. All farm produces have been sold to Phu Bia Mining Company and local markets.

Almost 200 families in Nam Mo village have grown 42 kinds of cash crops and planted grass for feeding cattle, but the cattle production is now unable to supply a high demand of the Phu Bia Mining Company and local markets, Ms Yethao added.  

The Phu Bia Mining company has significantly contributed to socio-economic development including human resource development, community development, clean agriculture, construction of school, and construction of health center which now can improve better living conditions of people.

Mr Buaket Keosivongphan said we can earn about 500,000 to 1 million kip per week obtained from sales of cash crops and cattle meats to the markets and Phu Bia Mining Company.  

Mr Souli Sisouphanthong, a staff of Phu Bia Mining Company said that Nam Mo and Nam Ngone villages, have been producing clean agriculture produces since 2018 with a total area of 26 hectares. It sees improving the living conditions of people in Nam Mo and Nam Ngone villages and other villages.

Phu Bia Mining has supported 380,000 USD for 12 projects including infrastructure construction, construction of roads, bridges, schools, health center and community development. Ten completed projects have been handed over to local government.

Phu Bia Mining is a part of PanAust Limited, an Australian headquartered copper and gold mining company, who are themselves owned by Guangdong Rising H. K. (Holding) Limited. This Chinese state-owned enterprise has a long-term commitment to be present in Laos.
